Installation Guide

Step by step to the perfect floor – for parquet, laminate and click vinyl.

⚠️

Important: This guide applies to floating click installation. Different rules apply for glue-down and nail-down parquet. If in doubt, contact our free expert consultation.

01

Prepare the subfloor

The subfloor must be dry, level (max. ±3 mm over 2 m), load-bearing and free of dust and grease. Moisture reading with a CM device: max. 2.5 CM% for cement screed (0.5 CM% with underfloor heating). Level out any unevenness with levelling compound.

  • Drying time for cement screed: min. 1 day per mm of thickness
  • Remove old adhesive completely
  • With underfloor heating: heat up before laying, then let it cool down again
02

Acclimatisation

Let the flooring packs acclimatise lying flat in the installation area for at least 48–72 hours. Room temperature 18–22 °C, humidity 45–65 %. Only open the packs right before laying.

  • Do not stack packs on top of each other
  • Do not store directly on underfloor heating
  • Storing boxes upright = incorrect acclimatisation
03

Lay the impact-sound underlay

Roll out the impact-sound underlay butted (not overlapping). With underfloor heating, use a special heat-permeable underlay (thermal resistance max. 0.15 m²K/W). Run the film up the walls by 5 cm.

  • Fix the seams with tape
  • Do not lay the film double
  • Use a vapour barrier on damp subfloors
04

Lay the first row

Measure the room width and work out how many boards will fit. Start at the straight wall with the groove facing the wall. Place spacer wedges (8–12 mm) all around. Begin the first row with the short side in the laying direction.

  • Always lay staggered (min. 40 cm offset)
  • Mind the grain direction
  • When in doubt: lay parallel to the incoming light
05

Click the boards together

Insert each new board at an acute angle (approx. 30°) into the longitudinal groove of the previous row and tilt it down – the click system locks in. Close the short-side joints with a tapping block (never directly) and a hammer.

  • Never strike the board directly with the hammer
  • Use the zip technique for even joints
  • Last row: draw in with a pull bar
06

Trims & skirting boards

Remove the spacer wedges. Lay the skirting boards over the film edges and fix them to the wall (not the floor!). Cover transitions to other floor coverings with T-profiles or transition profiles.

  • Always fix skirting boards to the wall – not the floor
  • Plan expansion joints in long hallways (> 10 m)
  • Seal pipe penetrations with a rosette set
